Four Month Check-Up

Dan took Lewis to his four month doctor's appointment today.  I was bummed I couldn't go, making up snow days this late in the year is a waste of time for many reasons that I won't go into here.  Lewis weighs 15 pounds 12 ounces (70th percentile), is 25 3/4 inches long (80th percentile although Dan swears he was 26 inches), and his head measurement is in the 90th percentile.  Dr. Schofield said he was a happy, healthy baby boy!!

Here is Lewis at the Dr.'s office acting silly.  I asked Dan why he didn't stop Lewis from messing up the table and his response was, "I was too busy laughing and trying to take a picture."  It doesn't show it in this picture but Dan said Lewis tried to eat the paper.  He tries to eat everything he can get his hands on.

Before his appointment this morning, Lewis hadn't rolled over by himself yet.  During tummy time tonight, he finally rolled over from his stomach to his back all by himself, I promise I didn't help him at all!!  Dan's friend AJ was over at our house and is our witness.  We were so proud of him, it really came out of nowhere.  I put him back on his tummy to see if he'd do it again but he got so frustrated that he started to cry really hard and just laid limp.  Hopefully tomorrow he'll do it again.

Four Months Old

In addition to this being the busiest day since Easter, Lewis turned four months old.  He's been growing and growing and I can't wait for him to go to the doctor on Tuesday to find out how much he weighs and how long he is.

Not a whole lot is new with him, he still has no interest in rolling over but we keep trying everyday.  He is sleeping about 10 hours a night, from about 9 to 7.  He's not a good napper at all but I'm not complaining because I'd rather him sleep through the night anyway.  Most of the time his naps are about 20 minutes long, every once and a while he'll have an hour long one and a few times a week he goes down for about 3 hours.  We haven't figured out a rhyme or reason for his nap schedule (or lack of).

We tried rice cereal again yesterday and it went better than the first time but it still wasn't great.  I alternated between spoonfuls of cereal and the bottle but he got frustrated because he just wanted to eat and he hasn't figured out the spoon just yet.  We'll keep trying.

Below are the only pictures I have of him on his four month birthday.  He had just gotten out of the bath tub so his hair looks funny.

You can kind of see his blue eyes in this picture.  They're still really blue and if they stay that way, it will be the only thing about him that looks like me.  He looks more and more like his dad every day.

The giraffes on his bumpers are his friends and he'll talk to them at night before he falls asleep and in the morning when he wakes up, sometimes he even tries to grab them.  There are ribbons on his bumper that tie to the crib to keep it in place and he like to find the ribbons, pull on them until they're untied, and then chew on them until they're soggy.  It's really gross.

In all, Lewis is pretty great.  He's happy until he gets hungry or sleepy and those are all easy fixes.  Dan and I are thankful everyday that he's a happy, healthy boy and that he's surrounded by family and friends who love him.

Busy, Busy Day

Lewis and Momma drove all over town today.  It was a very busy day, lots to do.  First we went to Beth and Chuck's house at 11 for a brunch to celebrate my cousin Trey's high school graduation.  There were lots of people there and everyone wanted to hold Lewis.  He had on a really cute blue gingham john john with a sail boat on it but when Great Grandmomma was holding him he pooped all over it and her.  It's never come out of his diaper before but I guess there's a first for everything.  Luckily, Great Grandmomma didn't care at all that she got poop on her dress.

After brunch we went to Oomie and Gran Man's house for a little bit.  After that we went to Trey's graduation.  There were only 52 people in his graduating class so it took about 45 minutes from start to finish.  All graduations should be that short.

Once graduation was over, Lewis and I went to Grandma and Grandpa Vossler's house to celebrate Memorial Day.  There were lots of Vossler's there and of course, everyone wanted to hold him.  After I managed to steal my son back, we went outside to put our feet in the pool.  The water was too cold for Lewis to get all the way in so we had to settle for feet.  I don't know what I was thinking but I don't have any pictures of it.  The first time I dipped him in he crinkled his face up like he was going to scream.  Once he was pulled out he was fine.  I did it a couple more time and he eventually started to like it.  By the end, he could sit there for a few minutes with his feet in.  Hopefully by next weekend the water will warm up some so he can go swimming.

We finally made it home a little after eight and I gave Lewis a bath, fed him a bottle, and he zonked out.  I have feeling he'll sleep a lot tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Great Grandmomma!

Yesterday was my Grandmomma's birthday (Lewis' Great Grandmomma).  We made her day by stopping by for a visit.  Below is Lewis and his Great Great Aunt Susie.  Great Gran Man is in the corner making him laugh.

Lewis and the birthday girl.  She likes to rock her Great Grandson and most of the time he cooperates.

Pictures and Stuff

Here are some pictures that have been sitting on the camera for a little bit. The one below is when Lewis starting standing a lot.  He really likes doing it and thinks he is sooo big.  We sorta think he's going to walk before he'll roll over.  He's just not that interested in tummy time.  He doesn't cry right away when put on his stomach any more but he doesn't do much else.  This past weekend he would roll over if you tucked one arm under his body and gave a slight push.  We called it the three quarters roll over.  He hasn't wanted to do it these past few days though.

Below is Lewis' first time eating solid foods.  We tried on Saturday, May 21 around lunch time and he was really hungry at the time.  He didn't know how to eat without having to suck for it.  We could get the spoon in is mouth but he would end up pushing out the cereal with his tongue.  We are going to try again this weekend and be more consistent with feeding it to him.  He's got to learn how to eat from a spoon eventually!!

This is Lewis playing on his tummy time mat today.  He loves the chain, he tries to chew on it all the time.  He also has started grabbing his feet.  Any day now he's going to start chewing on them.  Can't wait to get pictures of it when it starts happening.

This is pretty much what Ruby wants to do to Lewis any time someone pays attention to him.  We try to keep her from licking him in the face but she sneaks kisses in.

Fun with Dad

Dan was with Lewis all day today and they had so much fun.  Here's Dan with Lewis before we all went on a walk when I got home from school.  Lewis is all bundled up because it is super cold outside.  It's the middle of May, it shouldn't be in the 50's with no sunshine!!

Dan is really good at getting Lewis to laugh by making funny noises.  He recorded it today so I thought I'd try to put in on the blog.  We think Lewis laughs like me.

Posing for the camera

This past Sunday Lewis, Oomie, and I went to Sears to get some pictures taken of little man.  He did alright but didn't really feel like smiling or giggling or doing anything super cute. Below are the two pictures that turned out the best.  I know they say Sears all over them but we don't have the actual pictures yet and I wasn't going to pay $250 for all of the pictures on a cd.

He really looks like Dan in this one.  One of these days I'll get a baby picture of Dan on the blog so it's easy to compare the two of them at the same age.  Grandma Vossler found one picture of Dan at 6 months that looks eerily like Lewis.

I really liked this one (except for the ugly pillow) because his hands are in his mouth.  He's been chewing and gnawing on his hands for a couple of weeks now.  He's even started to put other things like blankets, bibs, and loveys in there, too.  I guess we're starting the oral fixation phase of development.

Lewis has a new friend

On Monday, May 9 our friends Nick and Lisa Warpinski had a beautiful baby girl.  Ellie was 7 pounds 7 ounces and will soon be one of Lewis' best friends.

Dan and I went to see Ellie and the new parents on Thursday and we really became aware of how much Lewis has grown.  He was a half pound bigger than Ellie was but it seemed like such a long time ago that he was that small.  Looking at the two of them in the same room made Dan and me proud that our little boy was growing up so well.  I really can't believe how big he has gotten.  It's hard to notice his growth when I see him everyday so it was a nice reminder of how far he's come.

Here's me holding Ellie next to new mom Lisa.  Ellie is so cute and has precious cheeks and the sweetest pursed lips.

My first Mother's Day

This past Sunday was the first Mother's Day I got to celebrate being a mom.  Dan, Lewis, and I had a great day!!  We had lots of people at our house for a big Mother's Day celebration.  My parents, my Granny and Papaw, Dan's parents, Dan's brother Jason, Dan's brother Adam and his wife Jessica and daughter Shelby were here to party with us.

Here is the whole Vossler family.  I definitely should have sucked in my gut!!  Happy grandparents in the middle.  They are so excited to have two beautiful, healthy grand babies to play with.

Here's Granny and Papaw with their great grandson.  He was not in the mood to look at the camera!

Here's my mom and dad with the little man.  Still not in the mood for pictures.

Here's Lewis and his cousin Shelby laying around on the couch.  She's three and a half weeks older than he is.  She is more vocal, she makes crazy noises that we think sound like a tetradactyl.  Lewis is a little longer and weighs more but Shelby is catching up (she was a premie).

3 Months Old!!!

Lewis turned 3 months old this past Friday.  He weighs 14 pounds 8 ounces.  He has started smiling a lot and has even started giggling and laughing.  He's been sleeping really well at night and hopefully he'll continue to.  He goes to sleep anywhere from 8:30 to 9:30 and then sleeps until anywhere from 5:30 to 7:00.  On Saturday night he went to sleep at 9:30 and didn't wake up until a little after 9:00.  I woke up at 9:00 and freaked out because he's never slept that late before.  I decided to go check on him to make sure everything was ok and sure enough, he was sleeping.  He woke up about 5 minutes after I checked on him but I just couldn't believe that he slept almost 12 hours.  :)

Dan took this picture of Lewis in the bath tub tonight.  We don't have any pictures of him from over the weekend so we thought we get some when he was super happy.  He still loves taking a bath and kicks and splashes the whole time.  He's also started putting his hands in his mouth ALL THE TIME.  He is either licking them or gnawing on them.  Hopefully he's not starting to teethe already, I'd like to wait a little before that fussy stage starts.

Here's another one of Lewis in the bath tub.  He was smiling at his dad but Dan couldn't get the picture taken soon enough.
